MicroEnterprise Works (MEW)Rehabilitation ProfessionalsMEW works with approximately 120 clients per year. All of our clients are potential small business owners with disabilities and most of them are referrals from rehabilitation agencies. We work with over 20 Michigan Department of Career Development/Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS) Offices in Southeastern Michigan. In addition, we work with clients from the Michigan Commission for the Blind and the Veterans Administration. We have been helping people with disabilities evaluate business ideas for over 15 years. Our staff has worked closely with rehabilitation professionals and their customers during this period. We understand that most rehabilitation professionals do not feel comfortable helping customers evaluate business ideas. As part of the Ann Arbor Center for Independent Living, the MEW staff is experienced with disability and can partner very effectively with you in the rehabilitation process. With this training and our involvement in small business ownership for many years, we feel very well-qualified to help you and your customers. Over the years, we have helped dozens of small businesses get funded and launched in partnership with agency professionals. If you are interested in learning more about working with us, please contact us at please email us: rweir@aacil.org. We have an information package that we will send you that describes our process and how we can help you and your customers who want to explore self-employment or a small business.
