Apartment Lists

At this time we maintain lists of apartment complexes in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti only. Though condos, rooms, trailers and houses may be for rent, their listings vary by the day, so we don’t list them at this time. Apartment complexes make it onto this list for one of four reasons:

They offer accessible units – that is they offer ground floor apartments. Some may need threshold ramps or you might have to swing around to a back patio to get in, but you can get in. Once you get into the unit, though, it may (or may not) have an accessible bathroom.

They offer barrier free units – that is, you can get into the front door and the bathroom has enough space for someone in a wheelchair to enter and turnaround inside. These units are also likely to have other features, such as drop counters, low pile carpet, stove controls at the front, etc. Each individual listing will detail additional features.

They offer subsidies – this means that they have below market rent rates. They may (or may not) have barrier free or accessible units.

They accept subsidies – this means that they will accept Section 8, a HUD-based program designed to help low to moderate income persons afford housing. Obtaining the subsidy is handled through the housing commission. They may (or may not) have barrier free or accessible units.
