Assistive Technology Center Computer Services
People using alternative input methods or those with special training needs may not be able to use the traditional programs for learning new computer applications. The ATC can provide individual or small group training for a variety of programs. We provide a range of computer and assistive technology services including:
- Group Classes – Small classes (up to 4 people) presented in the ATC computer lab are hands on and include practice time and simple assignments that can be completed in our lab or on the student’s computer. Students will be presented with a certificate of achievement upon successful completion of each class. Topics include Introduction to the Computers, Introduction to the Internet, Basic and Advanced MS Word, Basic Excel, and Outlook. Click here for a description of the computer classes.
- Individual Training – One-on-one training is tailored to the needs and learning style of each client. It can be helpful for people using alternative input methods or those with special training needs who may not be able to use the traditional programs for learning new computer applications. We provide training on a wide variety of computer applications, hardware, and related technologies (PDA use, cell phone programming).
- Diagnostics and Repair –Technical problems or lack of routine maintenance can cause even the best computer systems to become inaccessible. Our services include: Virus and spyware removal and prevention, Windows reinstallations and upgrades, hardware installation and configuration, Internet solutions, and general problem solving.
- Equipment Recommendations – Knowing what is needed and where to shop to get the right computer system is daunting. We help people determine their computer hardware and software needs and make recommendations for appropriate and cost effective solutions. We obtain complete computer quotes from vendors, order, install and test the components, and configure the system to fit individual needs.
