MicroEnterprise Works (MEW)

MicroEnterprise Works (MEW) is a program of the Ann Arbor Center for Independent Living (AACIL). Our mission is to assist people with disabilities become entrepreneurs. We offer complete small business development assistance and follow-up services, to new or expanding businesses. Those services include:
  • Exploring Entrepreneurship, a half-day workshop
  • One-on-one consulting Business Planning Preparation
  • Financial Forecasting
  • New Business Follow-up in marketing and accounting, offering lots of encouragement
MEW provides services to people with disabilities primarily through referrals from Michigan Department of Career Development/Michigan Rehabilitation Services counselors in Southeastern Michigan. However, we also work with clients from the Michigan Commission for the Blind and the Veterans Administration.

Many people think that it's easy to start a business! Few realize the hard work and dedication it takes to start a business and keep it running. Therefore, our staff , who have all been business owners, have many years of experience helping people analyze business opportunities and/or business expansion. We have helped our customers develop business ideas from hobbies, work skills, unique talents, and a perceived market or niche. We have also helped businesses expand their markets and profitability!
